Coroner’s inquest hears of warning signs that could have saved Jamie Hawley

On Wednesday, the jury at the coroner’s inquest into Jamie Hawley’s death were told about warning signs that could have saved the disabled man’s life. Daniel Raymond, an investigator with the Guardian and Trustee’s office, said when social workers tried to check on Hawley’s living conditions, they were denied access.

He said that complaints of neglect were submitted over a period of thirty years, and reports to police went ignored. The findings of the inquest will be used to make recommendations so that similar tragedies can be avoided in the future.
