Warden’s Caucus Address 2018 Goals

The Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus had the chance to address its 2018 goals to provincial representatives.

The caucus, which includes representation from the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, attended the Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference in Toronto earlier this week. Members had meetings with Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, a number of ministers, along with the Ontario PC and NDP parties.

Chair Robin Jones, who is also the Leeds & Grenville Warden, says the EOWC understands the importance of working with the province. She says the caucus has kept its focus simple and pushed for the two most important projects in Eastern Ontario.

The goal was to highlight its two priorities in Eastern Ontario for this year. The first is to get funding to support a nearly $300-million project to improve cellular and broadband networks in the region. The second is to implement an Eastern Ontario Economic Development Strategy, to address the region’s future needs for growth and innovation.
