Health Unit expects to play role in public and youth education when pot becomes legal

While the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit waits to hear how the province roles out Marijuana legislation, it will probably play a part in public and student education.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Paula Stewart says the health unit is waiting to see what the province says regarding the unit’s role when pot becomes legal
Stewart says they expect to play a large role in public education.

Stewart says there’s a number of risks involved with using the drug.

Stewart says it’s also a bigger risk for young people.

That’s why Stewart says it’s important to educate students about the potential dangers of pot.

Once more details are released about the roll-out of the new legislation, Stewart says the health unit will have a better understanding of the role it will play after pot is legal.
