Mayor Todd and council host second in series of cross border meetings

The Town of Prescott was the site of a cross border meeting between community officials.

It’s the second in a series of meetings between mayors and other government officials from Northern New York and Eastern Ontario.
The event happened Thursday night and included Senator Patty Ritchie and Former Senator Bob Runciman.

Mayor Brett Todd says they need to continue to do everything they can to keep ties strong between borders.

Todd says around 40 people attended the event including members of Prescott’s council, mayors from across Leeds and Grenville, MPP Steve Clark, mayors and officials from Ogdensburg, Watertown, Morristown, Alexandria Bay, Lisbon, Waddington, Louisville and St. Lawrence County.

The Mayor says he also hosted a meeting with a number of the same people at the town hall looking into the possibility of reviving a Prescott-Ogdensburg passenger and bicycle ferry.

Todd says they’ll be bringing the information to council in the near future.
