North Grenville awards business case study on Kemptville College

At the North Grenville Committee of the Whole Monday night, Director of Planning and Development Forbes Symon said the Business Case Study for Kemptville College will cost the municipality $127,700. The study is required under the Municipal Act before the council can take the next steps in the future of Kemptville College.

North Grenville received proposals for the business case study from heavyweights BDO, Deloitte and KPMG. The highest price was BDO but they were clearly the best submission with the highest level of insight. Symon said acquiring the college is one of the most significant projects the municipality has ever undertaken.

A second RFP was issued for an understanding of in-ground infrastructure at the campus. Novatech Engineering won that project, with a pricetag of $70,000. Director of Planning and Development Forbes Symon says the Novatech group pointed out which items could wait until the operations phase of the project, and which had to be done as part of the initial study.

The Municipality has raised $225,000 for the study through various grants. The remaining $27,300 will remain a contingency fund for the two projects.
