MP Brown on legal marijuana date change

MP Gord Brown doesn’t think the federal government is doing enough to ensure legalization of marijuana has the desired effect.

The Leeds, Grenville, Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MP says legalization of marijuana is intended to get rid of the black market associated with its sale, while keeping it out of the hands of children. Brown doesn’t believe the plan in place right now will succeed at either objective, going so far as to it would “fail miserably”.

He notes that many municipalities and provinces need more time to prepare for the change but added he doesn’t think this will create enough time. MP Brown finished by saying the date change was a clear indicator that the government was not ready to roll out their legal marijuana legislation.
