SPCA Polar Bear Plunge fundraiser

The Ontario SPCA Leeds and Grenville Animal Centre is encouraging the public to take a dip for homeless animals.

To celebrate the arrival of the New Year, and raise money, the animal centre will be holding a Polar Bear Plunge on January 1st. Participants are encouraged to get pledges from friends and neighbours, with anyone raising over $150 being entered into a draw to win a pet prize pack.

Registration and check-in start at 12:30pm at the Dive Brockville Adventure Centre. At 2:00pm participants will splash through the St. Lawrence at Centeen Park in Brockville. There will be hot chocolate and chili following the plunge to warm up those brave enough to take the plunge.

Marianne Carlyle, the animal centre’s manager, adds that animals will not be permitted to participate in the plunge.
