Committee of the Whole support highway safety initiative

The Committee of the Whole is supporting an Ontario Safety League initiative.

President of the Safety League Brian Patterson sent a letter to the town with the subject line “request for a coroner’s review of issues related to fatalities involving commercial motor vehicles and private motor vehicles on 400 series and related highways in the Province of Ontario”. According to the letter there were 5,000 collisions between January 1^st and October 15^th of 2017, 56 of which caused 67 fatalities.

According to Patterson the group want to work together to “draft guidelines for this proposed review that allows for all major issues to be addressed”. Prescott will be passing the letter along to other municipalities along the 401 corridor.
