Founders Day presentation

Monday marked the Third Annual Founders Day in Prescott.

The Committee of the Whole started their meeting with a presentation by Councillor Fraser Laschinger. He spoke about the Plumb family and their history in the area, which dates back to the 1800s. The presentation included a power point detailing the Plumb’s history, including their business ventures. The Plumbs operated a ferry from around 1816 to 1960 and Issac William Plumb later expanded to selling fuel, lumber, coal and ice.

According to Laschinger the family has almost 150 years of business in the town. One of the presentation’s attendees was a descendent of the Plumb family, Jim Plumb. Founders Day is December 4th so it lines up with Edward Jessup’s birthday, the town founder would have been 282.
