A Brockville couple is putting the finishing touches on a home they will donate to a Syrian refugee family rent free, for their first year in Canada. Darlene Keffer and David Laflamme told the Brockville Recorder they aren’t looking for recognition; they just want to help out.
The couple had been busy with other projects so they weren’t expecting to get to any renovations on the Bennett Street property until next year, but when locals started talking about helping Syrian refugees they thought, “Why not get (the house) ready and make it available,” and that’s what they are doing.
