Shoreline Property Survey

Record water levels for the spring have Conservation Ontario asking for help from shoreline property owners.

The International Joint Commission’s Great Lakes – St. Lawrence River Adaptive Management Committee (GLAM) is seeking input after floods and erosion caused damage to many shoreline properties. GLAM is sponsoring a survey for landowners directly affected by the abnormally high water levels.

The committee will use information gathered to better understand which areas of shore are most vulnerable. This will help them improve the models used to regulate Lake Ontario’s outflow during potential climate conditions. Data will only be reported in a summarized fashion to ensure of the privacy of landowners and the option to provide photographs of damage is available.

Answering the survey will help ensure future discharge levels for Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River consider private property damage that could be caused by the release. The survey can be found by clicking here.
