Parking By-law survey results

The Town of Prescott is taking a serious look at street parking.

At this week’s Committee of the Whole meeting the results of the Parking By-law survey were released and there was a general discussion about parking in town. The town received just fewer than 200 surveys with between 200 and 300 responses identifying trouble spots. Identifying these congested areas was easy for the town because they were mentioned multiple times.

One of the most mentioned areas was Dibble Street and the committee discussed possible solutions during the meeting. Restricting parking to one side of the street and moving parking further away from the corner were both suggested but nothing was finalized by the committee. The corners of George & Dibble and Centre & Dibble were both highlighted as possible no-parking zones, as well as George Street between James and Dibble.

The committee had planned on forwarding a motion to council but decided to give the matter further discussion before passing it along.
