Smiths Falls Council is supporting an effort to get a cannabis store in the town.
If council’s support works, there may be a cannabis retail store at Canopy Growth’s production site. Canopy Growth is a cannabis company located in Smiths Falls, which employs over 300 people, making it the largest corporate employer in the town.
According to Canopy, a cannabis store at their location would create roughly ten jobs. Smiths Falls Mayor Shawn Pankow says that Canopy has been a big part of the community revitalization of the town.
Canopy is the largest publicly traded cannabis company in the world.
