Light up the Night

Friday night in Prescott is going to be bright.

Prescott Fire, with cooperation from town hall, will be holding the 64th annual Light up the Night parade. Local Fire Prevention Officer Chris Veltkamp says the parade usually sees around 100 floats but they’re hoping to get 150 this year, to keep with the theme of Canada’s 150th birthday. He adds that no registration is required to enter a float into the parade. They do ask that participants gather at the high school at around 6:00pm.

The first float will leave the high school at 7:00pm and the route will follow Edward Street south before turning West onto King Street. The parade will stop around St. Lawrence Street. This year’s parade Youth Ambassador is Mackenzie Green and the parade will be marshalled by a group of Prescott Fire veterans.

Veltkamp also added that the local Tim Hortons will be selling Smile Christmas Cookies this week to support the parade.
