The Committee of the Whole is recommending the town becomes a member of the St. Lawrence-Rideau Immigration Partnership.
This week Dr. Jacqueline Schoemaker-Holmes, Economic Development Officer for the town, presented the idea to the committee. Joining the partnership would give the town access to many funding opportunities, programs, services, strategic alliances, partnerships they would not be privy to otherwise.
Schoemaker-Holmes says the only cost to the town is her time and she considers that “very well spent”. The partnership focuses on new and existing immigrants and brings all 13 municipalities in the region together. She adds that all three levels of government are represented.
