Hunting Season Opens Today

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry wants everyone to remember the rules heading into this year’s deer hunting season.

The season startsĀ on Monday, and runs until Sunday, November 19th. District Conservation Officer Shane Brownlee says it’s important for hunters to handle their firearms with care and attention.

Brownlee says hunters should also remember they are only allowed to hunt at certain times of the day.

Brownlee says it’s important to make sure to read the instructions on game seals. You should know if you’re allowed to hunt antlerless deer, like doe or fawn, or if you can only hunt deer with antlers over three inches long.

Brownlee also reminds hunters they need landowner permission before hunting on private property. If you shoot something, and it finds its way to private property, you still need permission to collect it.

Brownlee also wants you to never drink and hunt.
