Town council made two $500 donations during their meeting this week.
Students from South Grenville District High School will be attending the Ontario Student Leadership Conference with their donation. This is the 39th annual conference and will be held in Niagara Falls. It is estimated that 2200 teachers and students from across the province will be there. The other recipient of a $500 donation was Girls Inc. of Upper Canada. Council explained that the money was for the group’s summer camp sponsorship program. The summer camp was only meant for 30 girls, but 32 signed up for the experience. Girls Inc. allowed all of the girls to participate, which threw their budget off for the remainder of the fiscal year. The Mayor and Councillors think Girls Inc. do such wonderful things and decided to cover the missing money.
Both of these donations came from the grant money fund and there is still $800 available for future donations.
