Three members of the Brockville General Hospital staff will receive awards for their efforts in organ and tissue donation.
On October 19th at 2:00pm the Trillium Gift of Life Network will be presenting Linda Hunter with the Donation Champion Award. Hunter will be given the award for her dedication to saving lives through organ and tissue donation.
During the same ceremony Hidden Hero Awards will be presented to Jennifer MacDonald and Dr. Tristan Alie. There will also be speeches by local organ donor Robin TeKamp and organ recipient David Presley of Manotick.
According to Brockville General Hospital there are over 1,500 people waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant. New statistics show that one organ donor can save up to eight lives and enrich as many as 75 others through tissue donation.
