Arrest made in year old theft at Brockville Wal-Mart

The Brockville Police Services may close a case from 2016 thanks to help from Ottawa Police.

Police say on 18th of February 2016, Loss Prevention officers at the Brockville Wal-Mart saw a man take electronic items from the store, put them in a bag and leave without paying. He was then reportedly approached by the Loss Prevention officers outside, at which point he took-off to a waiting mini-van with over $2,700 in stolen goods. Officers from the Brockville Police say they investigated the incident and, after identifying the 27-year-old man they believed responsible, issued a warrant for his arrest. Police added at the time of the theft in Brockville the accused was facing charges for theft in Ottawa, and wanted for breaching bail conditions.

Police in Ottawa say last week they were dealing with an unrelated matter when they came in contact with the man. He was arrested on the warrant issued by Brockville Police and made an appearance in bail court on Friday.
