MPP Steve Clark says that the upcoming closure of Brockville’s Procter and Gamble plant in a few years is a real blow to the riding.
Clark says his thoughts are with the employees and families at this time. He also says he’s working with the City of Brockville and Mayor David Henderson, MP Gord Brown, local economic development officials and the federal and provincial levels of government to explore every possibility of retaining jobs.
Clark says hydro rates have played a part in manufacturing job losses in Ontario, including plant closures like this one.
Nearly 500 employees will be affected by the closure.
